Take a hike in Pogonip!

If you’ve seen the movie Lost Boys, you have seen one of the features of Pogonip City Park https://www.cityofsantacruz.com/ – the Pogonip Clubhouse. Featured as the family home in the movie, was once the center of a thriving golf course before the land became a designated greenbelt.

Stretching from Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park down to the industrial area around Harvey West Park, Pogonip features 11.5 miles of mostly wide, even trails, 3 of which are multi-use and open to hikers, leashed dogs, bikers and equestrians. This park is a local favorite, and along its trails you might find a hidden koi pond, an ever-changing, mossy rock garden, or a cluster of old fruit trees asking to be foraged.

The Homeless Garden Project broke ground in 2019 in Pogonip’s lower meadow, with eventual plans to develop 9 acres of  cultivated organic gardens, a pole barn, two green houses and an administration building. The Homeless Garden Project https://homelessgardenproject.org/our-farms/#pogonip-farm provides job training, transitional employment and support services to people experiencing homelessness, with a goal to create a stronger, more sustainable home for everyone in the community.

October’s Mortgage Credit Availability Index shows a slight relaxation in lending standards — but as most Santa Cruz home buyers and sellers will agree, getting a mortgage is still difficult. With mortgage availability benchmarked at 100, although it’s currently at  111 ½, compared with the 800 it stood at in 2007, today’s is still a […]
